Does Motivaite work with Garmin? Yes — here's the one toggle
Short answer: yes, today, on both platforms — and it takes one toggle you probably haven't switched on.
How it works
Garmin Connect — the phone app your watch already talks to — writes your data into your phone's health store: Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. On Android it writes after every single watch sync; on iPhone the Apple Health link has been there for years. Motivaite reads both stores natively, in the background.
So the pipeline is: watch to Garmin Connect to your phone's health store to Motivaite. No Garmin login inside Motivaite, no third-party bridge apps, nothing to pay for. Your Forerunner, Fenix, Venu, Instinct or vivoactive is already speaking a language Motivaite understands.
The one toggle
- iPhone: Garmin Connect, then Settings, then Health and Fitness, then Apple Health — switch it on and grant the categories.
- Android: Garmin Connect, then Settings, then Health Connect — allow sharing.
Then make sure Apple Health or Health Connect is switched on inside Motivaite (Settings, top panel). That's the whole job. It's also written inside the app — Settings, the YOUR WATCH panel — so you don't need this article open at the gym.
What actually syncs
Steps land in The Numbers and count toward your daily target and streaks without you touching a thing. Sleep flows into Sleep and Recovery, charted against your 7-hour target — no more logging bed times the morning after a long run. Workouts arrive as sessions, and this is the part that makes it worth the toggle: The Coach reviews them unprompted. Finish a 10K, and by the time you've stretched, it knows — and it'll have something to say about it in your check-in. Weight syncs too, if you weigh in through a connected scale.
Garmin-specific honesty
A couple of things worth knowing. The sync rides your watch's normal connection to Garmin Connect, so if the watch hasn't synced to the phone, Motivaite can't see it yet — open Garmin Connect and it catches up. And advanced Garmin metrics like Training Load and Body Battery stay in Garmin's world for now; Motivaite reads the universal categories — steps, sleep, workouts, weight — which are the ones The Coach programmes around anyway.
Why bother, when Garmin Connect has its own graphs
Garmin is superb at recording. Motivaite exists for what happens next: the training plan built around your kit and days, the meal plan and shopping list, the 7am orders, and a Coach that treats your watch data as evidence rather than decoration. Your watch counts the run; The Coach asks why Thursday's session didn't happen.
Wearing a Garmin already puts you one toggle from all of it. The first month is free — flip the switch, do a workout, and see what it's like when someone actually reads the data your watch has been collecting all these years.
