Motivaite coaches you with your data — so you deserve to know exactly what we hold, why, and how to take it back. This policy is written to be read, not skimmed past. The short version: we collect what the coaching needs, we sell nothing, your photos and chats are private, and you can export or delete everything yourself, any time.
Motivaite ("we") is the data controller for motivaite.co.uk, operated from the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy: help@motivaite.co.uk.
Account data — name, email, password (stored only as a strong one-way hash). Lawful basis: performing our contract with you.
Health and fitness data — weight, height, goals, food logs, training sessions, steps, hydration, caffeine, check-ins, and your conversations with The Coach. This is special category data under UK GDPR, and we process it only with your explicit consent, given at signup. Withdraw it at any time by deleting your account — coaching without this data isn't possible, so consent is a condition of using the service.
Progress photos — stored privately against your account at unguessable addresses, visible only in your logged-in account, deletable individually or wholesale, used for nothing else.
Form and posture checks — your video is never uploaded: still frames are sampled on your device, analysed, and immediately discarded. Only the written feedback is stored.
Payment data — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we hold only your subscription status and Stripe customer reference.
Voice logging — speech recognition runs through your browser's or device's built-in service (e.g. Apple's or Google's); we receive only the resulting text.
If you use the Motivaite iPhone or Android app and choose to connect it, we read three things and nothing else: step count, body weight, and sleep analysis. This is optional — the app works fully without it — and it happens only after you grant permission on your device.
The connection is read-only. Motivaite never writes, edits or deletes anything in Apple Health or Health Connect. Nothing you log in Motivaite is sent back to them.
Once read, this data is stored against your account and treated exactly like the rest of your health and fitness data above: used solely to power your coaching, your charts and your check-ins. We never use it for advertising or marketing, never sell it, never share it with data brokers, and never disclose it to third parties for their own purposes. It is not used to build advertising profiles or for any use-based data mining beyond improving your own coaching.
You can withdraw access at any time — on iPhone in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Motivaite, or on Android in Health Connect — and revoking it stops all further reading immediately. Data already read is deleted when you delete your account, along with everything else.
We use a small set of processors, each under contract: Vercel (hosting and photo storage), Neon (database, encrypted at rest), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and Anthropic (the AI behind The Coach — API data is not used to train their models). Some processors operate in the United States; transfers rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum and equivalent safeguards.
Your coaching data: for as long as you have an account — it is the product. Email delivery logs: 12 months. Activity events: 18 months. Delete your account and everything goes with it, immediately and permanently, including photos.
You can export everything (Settings → Your data → Download my data — a complete machine-readable file, which also covers portability), delete everything (Settings → Danger zone — self-serve, no email required, no retention tricks), correct anything via Settings, object or restrict by contacting us, and complain to the ICO if you think we've got something wrong — though we'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.
Two kinds, and only if you agree to the second.
Your login session — strictly necessary. Without it you cannot stay signed in. No consent needed and no way to switch it off while using the service.
Google Analytics — optional, and off until you say yes. It tells us which pages people find useful so we can improve them. No advertising cookies, no profiling, no selling anything to anyone. We ask before setting it, refusing is one click, and you can change your mind below at any time.
Analytics runs on the public website only. It is not in the iOS or Android apps, and it does not run anywhere inside your account — nothing you log, eat, weigh or say to your coach is ever sent to Google.

Emails from us are almost all the service itself — your orders, your check-ins. The occasional service announcement to existing members includes a working unsubscribe link, honoured immediately.
If you link a personal trainer, they see your logging activity, sessions, weight trend, steps, streak and check-in verdicts — shown to you explicitly before you consent, never your chats or photos, and severable by you at any time in Settings.
If this policy changes materially, we'll tell you by email before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
