Does Motivaite work with Fitbit? Yes — and as of this month, on iPhone too

Short answer: yes on Android, and — as of the 3rd of August 2026 — finally, properly, yes on iPhone too. If you tried to marry a Fitbit to an iPhone app any time in the last decade and gave up, this month is the month that changed.

What changed in August

First, some renaming: the Fitbit app is now the Google Health app — same account, same tracker, new name. On Android it has bridged into Health Connect for a while. But on iPhone, Fitbit data famously refused to enter Apple Health — a gap that had stood since 2014 and spawned a cottage industry of paid bridge apps.

Google Health version 5.05, released on the 3rd of August 2026, closed it. The app now syncs your exercise records, sleep, steps and vitals into Apple Health. Which means the pipeline Motivaite already uses — reading Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android, in the background — now carries Fitbit on both platforms.

The setup

  • iPhone: update the Google Health app to v5.05 or later, then Connections, then Apple Health — connect and grant the data types. Sync your Fitbit as normal.
  • Android: Google Health app, then Connections, then sync your health apps — that's the Health Connect bridge.

Then check Apple Health or Health Connect is switched on inside Motivaite (Settings, top panel — the YOUR WATCH panel there has these same steps). One-time job, a minute each side.

What flows in

Steps feed The Numbers — daily targets, streaks, duels — from your wrist, automatically. Sleep lands in Sleep and Recovery, which matters because sleep is the thing Fitbits are quietly best at measuring. Workouts arrive as sessions The Coach reviews unprompted, and weight syncs if you use a connected scale.

The honest caveats

The chain is Fitbit to Google Health to your phone's health store to Motivaite, so give a fresh workout a few minutes and keep Bluetooth on — if something looks missing, opening the Google Health app usually shakes it loose. And a couple of Fitbit-specific metrics (heart-rate variability among them) don't cross the Apple Health bridge yet; the universal categories — the ones your plan is actually built on — all do.

Fitbit measures. Motivaite answers back

Your Fitbit is an excellent witness: it knows you slept five hours and forty minutes and walked 4,200 steps. What it has never done is knock on the door about it. That's the job Motivaite took: a Coach that reads those numbers and responds — reshaping the training plan after a rough week of sleep, chasing the step target before 8pm, crediting the workout you thought nobody noticed. Works with Garmin too, if there's a mixed-wrist household.

The first 30 days are free. Given the bridge only opened this month, you may be among the first Fitbit-and-iPhone owners whose tracker finally reports to someone with opinions.

ENOUGH READING.
